The Atlantic Cancer Research Institute (ACRI)
Up close or from a distance, we have all been touched by the effects of cancer on the sick and their friends and family. Since its first
golf tournament in 2001, Assumption Life is proud to support an organization that does a remarkable job in order to better understand this disease.
About the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute (ACRI):
The Atlantic Cancer Research Institute is a non-profit organization founded in late 1998. Housed at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, ACRI has become a true centre of excellence in cancer research thanks to its unique expertise. Three main areas
of development steer the work of Research Institute’s researchers: early detection of disease, enhanced diagnosis and targeted treatment.
« The Flower »
Guy Lafleur affectionately nicknamed “The Flower” or “The Démon Blond” inspired an entire generation. Best known for his smooth skating style and scoring touch, he played 14 seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, winning five Stanley Cups with the iconic team.
While playing for Montreal, Lafleur became the first player to score at least 50 goals and 100 points in six consecutive seasons.
Following a three-year retirement, Lafleur later played with the New York Rangersfor a season and ended his career in 1991 wearing the Quebec Nordiques’ uniform.
On August 8, we are thrilled to welcome the famous #10 to Assumption Life’s Golf Tournament.
